The name Wirranendi is from the Kaurna aboriginal language. It means to become transformed into a green-forested area. This cultural reconciliation project site has been re-vegetated with native flora. A Kaurna food and medicinal trail shows the plants involved and their usage.
The controversial 'Wurley Wurley' art display is exhibited here to honour the Kaurna culture. Those of us using wheelchairs have good access although it is awkward in parts.
At this large, open park you will find the shady Kingston Gardens and a fully fenced junior/toddler playground. The playground features fun options such as a sandpit and digger. There is a large sporting field with football, soccer goals and cricket nets. There are multiple barbeque and picnic settings here for your use, also. All of this coupled with both open and shaded areas within the fence line make this a good picnic location. Dogs on leads are welcome here, except in the playground.
