![]() IntroductionGreg Denton is a remarkable man. I met him a couple of years ago when he approached me with a simple idea - to produce a book which tells people where they can get FREE entertainment in a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities. Adelaide and broader South Australia is rich in parks, playgrounds, barbeque areas and other FREE entertainment venues. No one has produced a serious publication providing detailed assessment of each venue. That and making the publication FREE of charge and available to the entire community was Greg Denton's vision. He produced a rough hand-written copy and began selling the project, which is piloting the far reaching FREE IN ADELAIDE & SA campaign to Government and Private Industry. His philosophy was simple. He refused to be told it could not be done. Gradually the concept took shape and form. The amateur hand-written manuscript became a neatly typed prototype. The crude hand drawn symbols were professionally designed. Each of the entertainment venues has been individually reviewed. The book shows, for example, whether there is and to what extent the availability of wheelchair access, barbeque facilities, bike, skateboard and playground options, dog accessibility, toilet facilities, walking areas and much more. Greg made personal financial sacrifices to produce the introductory copy in 2005 and after proving the viability of this project, has just successfully launched his full 148 page book which has been backed and supported by many Government bodies, individuals and businesses. What he has produced is a valuable addition to South Australia's tourist
and traveller facilities, whilst being an important, benefiting acquisition
for all local house holds.
